This year's Great Get Together is set to be the biggest ever to celebrate 10 years since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games – and everyone is invited! The community celebration will be packed with a day of live performances and workshops put on by the organisations that form East Bank; the culture, education, innovation and entertainment district currently under construction in the Park, which will bring the BBC, the V&A, Sadler’s Wells, UAL’s London College of Fashion and UCL to east London.

St Helen’s Catholic Primary School from Plaistow will kick off the action on the main stage at 12noon with a salsa fused hip-hop dance performance. Prepare to be wowed too by the main-stage line-up, with breakthrough acts and cutting-edge music brought to you by BBC Music Introducing, featuring Hak Baker, All Day Breakfast Café and Stretch.

Make sure you don’t miss the Deaf Rave, a family workshop and live performance from the BBC Singers in collaboration with Newham Music and NewYVC and performances from Sadler’s Wells who will present Artistry Youth Dance along with an extract from Rambert’s Peaky Blinders.

Other activities offered by the East Bank partners range from fashion illustration and zine making with UAL’s London College of Fashion to sessions on Riso Printing (a style of printing that creates spontaneous and unpredictable effects) with Sahra Hersi and Rabbits Road Press, Constructing Benches for Adventure Playgrounds with Build Up as well as Community Quilt Making with Sew Social Newham run by V&A East. Young V&A will also be running a Create and Play session with Young V&A.

Experiment with colour changing paints and screen printing while learning about heat waves with UCL and Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells are back with their rap lyrics and hip-hop moves. Young producers from the HereUs scheme will be running free family-friendly arts and craft workshops, funded by the Foundation for Future London and City of London. Here East will be running Children's Science workshops- there’s so much on offer!

There will also be circus acts, street theatre and an acoustic area jam-packed with up-and-coming local singers, musicians and poets. Take part in skateboarding, t-shirt making, mask making, salsa workshops, singing, drumming, and when you’re done, make the day even more memorable with some snaps at our photo booth. And don’t forget the fun fair rides, face painting and storytelling!

As you’d expect from the home of the London 2012 Games, you can have a go at a range of sports including rowing and kayaking sessions with London Youth Rowing on the waterways, cycling with Bikeworks and Lee Valley and The Great Mile Together with the West Ham Foundation. There will be races on the London Marathon Community Track, alongside the Badu Sports day with egg and spoon races, sack races, 60m races and more.

And if all that leaves you feeling a tad peckish, there’s a wide range of food and drinks on offer – or bring your own picnic!
