Discosailing: a Ballet on Water (CANCELLED)

27/09/2024

We have taken the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s performance of Rasheed Araeen's 'Discosailing: A Ballet On Water' in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The nature of programming art outdoors includes navigating various factors beyond our control.

Rasheed Araeen’s Discosailing: A Ballet on Water is a participatory art performance conceived by the artist in 1970. It features in The Line’s outdoor exhibition programme, where it was performed for the first time in the UK this summer. Get involved in a second day of live art installation or watch on, as performers float along the Waterworks River between London Aquatics Centre and UCL East.

Discosailing returns on 27 September 2024 with six performances across the day between 12.30pm and 6pm, each lasting 30 minutes. Nine participants will float on discs and, by wearing sails, they move across the water.

Come along to watch as performers, community groups and volunteers from the public become part of the work in this meditative, experimental encounter.
