Would you believe The Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit has (almost) been open for 1 year already? Hundreds of thousands of visitors have travelled from far and wide to experience the capital’s exhilarating 41 second descent! 

Even more visitors are in for a treat this weekend as the ArcelorMittal Orbit prepares for an exciting weekend! First of all, on Friday 23 June, you can enjoy an exclusive late night opening, allowing visitors to journey up to the sky until 8pm. Of course, The Slide will also be available for the late night opening on the eve of it’s first birthday (last sliders at 7.30pm)! Fans will also be delighted to know that British music icon Robbie Williams will be in extremely close proximity as he performs his tour in the London Stadium on the same night – meaning you can hear the set up and support act, Erasure, only metres away! Indulge in the celebrations and treat yourself – there will also be a pop up bar available from 4.30pm, should you wish to gaze over the stunning skyline on these beautiful summer evenings with a bubbly glass of prosecco or a cold beer! We strongly advise that you book in advance as tickets are selling fast!

#HappySlideDay - One day later, on Saturday 24 June 2017, The Slide will be celebrating its first birthday with visitors over slices of cake for those who venture up to the viewing platform! Or, if you share the same birthday with the ArcelorMittal Orbit, then you can enjoy FREE general entry! Simply bring proof of ID which states your birthday as 24 June with you and receive free general entry! Please be aware that this is subject to availability.

The Slide, created by acclaimed artist Carsten Höller, reaches speeds of up to 15 miles per hour as it circles around the ArcelorMittal Orbit 12 times. Catch glimpses of the London skyline and the beautiful Park as the light and dark sections of the tunnel weave through the famous loops and curves of the iconic structure, including a tight corkscrew section named the ‘bettfeder’ – after the German word for ‘bedspring’ – ending with a 50 metre straight run back down to earth!
