The event marked the start of a busy summer of sport for the Park and provided the opportunity for visitors to experience the thrill of the Stadium for the first time as the iconic venue continues its transformation.

Participants were cheered on by enthusiastic spectators as they completed a circuit which took in the Lee Valley VeloPark, London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena. All finishers in the Morrisons Great Newham London Run had their very own Jessica Ennis-Hill Olympic moment, as they crossed the famous finish line on the running track inside the Stadium.

Legendary athlete and marathon world-record holder Paula Radcliffe officially started the main 10km run while Newham-based runner John Beattie was the first person across the finish line, completing the course in 31 minutes 44 seconds. In second place was Peter Hawkings from Stratford (33:18) with Gus Upton finishing third (33:24).

Next up at the Stadium are the Sainsbury's Anniversary Games which run from 24-26 July and features the likes of Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford and Christine Ohuruogu. On Sunday 26 July, Paralympic legends including David Weir, Hannah Cockroft and Jonnie Peacock will take to the track for the IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final as part of National Paralympic Day.
