Press Release 24/08/2017
David Goldstone, CBE, has today (Thursday 24 August) been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at the Ministry of Defence having served three years as Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC). In this period, the development of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and wider regeneration of the surrounding area has accelerated and is now very successfully delivering on the promises made to the country before the 2012 Games.
Sir Peter Hendy, Chair of LLDC said: “David Goldstone CBE has been an outstanding Chief Executive whom I have been proud to work with, in different capacities, over the last ten years. His leadership of major projects, most notably the highly successful management of the £9.3bn Olympic and Paralympic Games budget in the years before 2012, made him the ideal choice to take on the LLDC role, and these skills clearly remain highly sought after in and beyond Whitehall. In the last three years Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has gone from strength to strength. Under David’s leadership, LLDC and its partners have transformed the lives of many thousands of people who now live in the new homes that have been built, or work in the new jobs that have been brought to east London. Further, over 15 million people have visited the Park and its venues. It is fitting that David will leave in the aftermath of what has undoubtedly been the most successful International Para-Athletics Championships and World Athletics Championships ever, which we have just hosted in the London Stadium. His will be a very hard act to follow and we wish him well in his new role when he takes it up".
