The five-mile mass participation run is being held in association with the London Borough of Newham, The National Lottery and the London Legacy Development Corporation and will be staged by Nova International on Sunday 21st July 2013.

The event will give up to 10,000 members of the public the chance to follow in the footsteps of their sporting idols, running the final 300m to the Stadium finish line on the same track that Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis, Jonnie Peacock and Mo Farah raced to win Gold.

Places in ‘The National Lottery Anniversary Run’ will be on sale from 9:00am on Thursday 25 April 2013 and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Building on last year’s successful ‘National Lottery Olympic Park Run’, which was the first public event inside the Stadium, the five-mile route will take in iconic venues across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Up to 10,000 places will be available to runners at ticket launch, each with the chance to bring two friends or family members to sit in the Stadium and cheer them on to their own moment of glory.

If the thought of running five miles is a daunting one, there will also be a shorter family fun run that children can participate in (accompanied by an adult) with more than 2,000 places available.

Nova International is the leader in mass participation sport and has created the event with the London Borough of Newham, The National Lottery and the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Mo Farah, Great Britain’s double-Olympic gold winning athlete at 5000m and 10,000m, attended the launch today and said:

“The National Lottery Anniversary Run will be a magnificent occasion. It is fitting that the first people to run on the track since the end of London 2012 will be members of the British public, who did so much to make the Olympic and Paralympic Games such a success.

“Running down the home straight to win Gold for Britain last summer was one of the greatest experiences of my life and it is wonderful that people will experience the chance to run on the track as part of The National Lottery Anniversary Run”.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will open in phases – starting with the north park in July – and will be fully open by spring 2014. It will be a new piece of the city providing jobs, homes and schools alongside the state of the art venues. The London Legacy Development Corporation is responsible for the Park’s transformation and is on track to deliver a great destination and lasting legacy for east London.
