The Six Day London event returns to the Lee Valley VeloPark Velodrome in October for six consecutive days of thrilling action. With loud music, flashing lights and the world’s best professional riders, everyone is welcome to join the ultimate party atmosphere at the world’s most iconic indoor velodrome.

We caught up with three-time Olympic medallist Steven Burke and upcoming cyclist Christopher Latham as they prepare for this year’s event:

What is your favourite memory of cycling on the velodrome track?

Steven: “It has to be winning the gold medal in the team pursuit at the London 2012 Olympic Games – easily the best moment of my life!”
Chris: “My favourite memory would be from this same event two years ago. We won the first few events and finished second overall.”

What do you like most about the Six Day London event?

Steven: “From the past couple of years, I have enjoyed watching the incredible atmosphere; it’s exactly like how it was throughout London 2012. It’s great to cycle in front of the home crowd as they always get behind you!”
Chris: “I like the mix of nations competing and spectating throughout the event – making for an even more electric atmosphere.” 

What advice would you give to new cycling spectators?

Steven: “Definitely come along – you’ll see some extremely fast and entertaining cycling, with lots of music, visual effects – you certainly don’t need to be a cyclist yourself to enjoy!”
Chris: “Make sure you keep your eyes peeled. You can miss a game changer in the blink of an eye – luckily the big screens help to explain the rules and the leaderboard!”

What is your favourite part of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park?

Steven: “It has to be the Velodrome – purely for the memories I have made here!”
Chris: “And the Westfield nearby! I try to pop in there on any breaks that I get.”
