New painting prize launches in east London

Story 12/03/2014

The East London Painting Prize has been created by The Legacy List, the charity of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with the Goldhill Family and in association with Bow Arts. The prize honours the life and work of painter and philanthropist, Jack Goldhill and commemorates his major contributions to the east End.

There will be a shortlisted artist’s show in an east London warehouse allowing artists to showcase their work alongside other artists in their field. The winning artist will receive a £10,000 cash prize and the opportunity to have a prominent solo show at the Nunnery Gallery.

Artists will have the opportunity to expose their work to an influential panel including artist and painter Varda Caivano (Victoria Miro Gallery), Senior Curator at the Zabludowicz Collection Maitreyi Maheshwari, independent art advisor Sarah Elson (Contemporary Art Society & Bow Arts Trustee), editor and curator Matt Price. The full panel of judges is to be announced in the upcoming weeks. For more information on how to apply for this Prize, please visit www.bowarts.org/ELPP for the submission criteria and deadlines.
