David Edmonds joined the Board of the Olympic Park Legacy Company in 2010 and continued as a London Legacy Development Corporation Board member since its inception in 2012.He has chaired the Investment Committee for all that period, and has been Deputy Chairman since May this year. He chairs the Board of E20 LLP, the joint venture between the London Borough of Newham and the LLDC, which has been responsible for the transformation of the former Olympic Stadium.

As well as his experience with the development of the Olympic Park, he has extensive experience within the housing, commercial property and regeneration sectors for both private and public bodies. He was Director of the Inner Cities Directorate in the original Department of the Environment. He is a former Chief Executive of the Housing Corporation. He has been a board member of English Partnerships, was Managing Director of NatWest Group Property, and, for eight years, a non-executive Director of Hammerson plc, the major private sector commercial development company.  He also was Chairman of Crisis, the charity for the single homeless.

His experience across both the private and the public sectors will ensure the continuity we need to deliver Olympicopolis - the new cultural and university district at the heart of the capital’s regeneration in east London. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has been a huge success and David’s appointment will ensure that the London 2012 legacy continues to thrive. I would also like to thank David’s predecessor, Neale Coleman. The success of the Games and the legacy that followed owe much to his advice, his drive and his vision.”

David Edmonds said: “I look forward to working closely with the excellent team at the LLDC, with our key partners in local government, and the wide range of private sector interests who are investing in the regeneration of east London. I believe that the foundations are there to continue delivering the most successful urban renewal legacy programme of any modern Olympics which - most importantly- will make tangible differences to the lives of people in east London.”

Mr Edmonds’ appointment follows the departure of his predecessor, Neale Coleman, to take up the post of Director of Policy and Rebuttals with the Labour Party.
