Led by the Mayor of London, National Park City Week is part of an effort to get more people enjoying the great outdoors that London provides, connecting with nature and making the city a greener place. At Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, we are proud to have over 560 acres of parklands, playgrounds and waterways free for visitors to explore and discover each day of the year – so to celebrate, we’ll be hosting tours of the Park, alongside our usual programme of fun-filled family events.  

Come along and explore the gardens in the south of the Park, where the intricately planted London 2012 Gardens are awash with colour as they celebrate some of the most unique and celebrated flora from around the world. Sat on the banks of the waterways, it is easy to think you are somewhere far away when wondering through their paths. The tradition of Britain’s Horticultural heritage can be found alongside London Stadium in The Great British Garden, where a unique planted arch welcomes you in to a green paradise. 

In honour of National Park City Week there will be a series of special tours provided by expert tour guides who will bring its iconic landmarks and secrets to life! Tours will take place two times each day, at 11am and 1pm. Tours will cost £8 per adult, £6 concession and £3 per child (3 – 16 years old) and will depart from the Information Point.  Tours are expected to be popular, you can book your place in advance by calling the Information Point on 020 8536 2716 between 10am – 3pm daily. Tours payable by cash on the day. 

In the north of the Park, you can find acres of meadows and fields, wild flowers, trees and lawns that are perfect for a picnic.  Wander through the paths and walkways with a free trail guide and spot as many of the different types of flowers on the Park as you can. National Park City Week is also an exciting week on the Park for fun-filled family events. Kicking off with the Müller Anniversary Games in London Stadium, on the 21 and 22 July, you can really relive the atmosphere of the London 2012 Games as you discover the Parklands before heading in to the stadium for an afternoon of world-class athletics from some of the names that struck gold 6 years ago. 

The Women’s Hockey World Cup Fan Central will also be opening their doors every day for free between 21 July – 5 August with hockey skills challenges, food trucks, live music and entertainment and of course a big screen showing all of the action from the Hockey pitches.
