The London Legacy Development Corporation has invited those living closest to the Park in Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest to attend residents meetings where they can find out more about the plans for the Park which will open from July 2013, one year after the opening ceremony.

Dennis Hone, interim Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said:

“These events are an opportunity for those living closest to the Olympic Park to learn more about its transformation into a new part of London called Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

“We want local people to have all the facts about job and training opportunities, new homes and park opening dates so they can get involved in the future of their Park.

Speakers include the Legacy Corporation, BAM Nuttall and the Police Olympic Community Relations Team. Below are the meeting details.

At the meeting residents will be able to find out how the Legacy Corporation will transform the Olympic Park through a £292m transformation programme called ‘Clear, Connect, Complete.’ It will clear Games-time structures including temporary venues, bridges, walkways and roads; connect the Park to the surrounding area with new roads, cycle and foot paths; and complete permanent venues, bridges and parklands ready for residents’ and visitors’ everyday use.

To help people to get onto the Park as quickly as possible, the Legacy Corporation has carefully planned its works to re-open the Park in phases, as each piece of work reaches completion.

Starting in the North Park, the first venue to open will be the Copper Box, with the whole of the North Park opening by the end of 2013.

This will be followed by the South Park from spring 2014 which will be home to the South Plaza, a dynamic public space that will welcome crowds to the Park with entertainment and attractions.
