Get together with your neighbours, friends and family, and join us on Sunday 18 June for a huge picnic at The Great Get Together in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to kick start a fantastic summer on the Park. The Great Get Together is a nationwide celebration of our different communities organised in partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation and The Big Lunch campaign.
Join in an exciting mix of live entertainment, including world class dance performances from Sadler’s Wells theatre as well as African drumming, steel pans, Newham Community Choir, Stratford Poetry, a storytelling tent, sports activities, street performances, arts and crafts activities and so much more!
Come to the Park and celebrate London’s diverse communities. Expect to see a main stage with a variety of performances and an area dedicated to dance and music, with the likes of African drumming, Newham Community Choir, Stratford Poetry, local acoustic performances and much more!
There will also be a storytelling tent, hosted by Stratford Library and Discover Storytelling centre, with a range of interactive storytelling sessions and book corners.
Enjoy plenty of roaming acts, from stilt walkers to circus-style performers, then get stuck in with various arts and crafts activities.
Come and meet Hero the Hedgehog and Whizbee the Bee, the official mascots for the 2017 World Para Athletics and IAAF World Championships at one of their first public appearances before the London 2017 Games which take place at the London Stadium this Summer.
Burn off your big lunch with a go on the 60m athletic track which will host an egg and spoon race, sack races, fathers races and more.
Bring a homemade picnic, or there will be plenty of options available to treat yourself with delicious food stalls from different world cuisines.
Make a whole day of it and explore all that the Park has to offer before setting in to the Great Get Together – Ride the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit, discover the Park on one of our boat tours or relive your favourite moments on London 2012 with our free trails of the Park.
Entry to the event is free and there is no need to register – simply turn up and have fun! If you would like to find out any more information about the event, then please visit /whats-on/events/2017/06/the-great-get-together.
