Ideas for spring days out at the Park
Story 22/03/2021
Spring is here, so dive in and make the most of the season! We’re proud to be one of London’s most versatile parks, so whether you’re looking for family days out during the Easter school holidays, picnic ideas and places to meet friends or just somewhere peaceful to enjoy a spring walk, you’ll find it at the Park. Read on for ideas for spending spring at the Park.
Explore the Park
• Despite being located right in the heart of east London, the Park has plenty of quiet spots to escape the crowds, not to mention pretty gardens bursting with colourful spring flowers! Find a bench and savour the peace, tranquility and fresh air.
• Beautiful canal paths and waterways make for wonderful walking routes winding through east London, or enjoy them from the water with our iconic swan pedalos!
• Visit the Park’s new beautiful blossom garden, chosen by the Mayor of London as the capital’s memorial to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Entertain the little ones
• The Park has fantastic playgrounds in both the north and south of the Park, with plenty of space for children to run around and let off steam during the Easter holidays!
• Looking for things to do as a family? Download one of our free trails, with themes including wildlife, art and the London 2012 Games, for a fun way of exploring the Park while learning something new!
Find fantastic food and drink
• Meeting a friend for a walk? Grab a drink to enjoy on your way, from cold drinks and lollies at The Last Drop café to freshly roasted artisan coffee at The Roasting Shed.
• Pick up a picnic to enjoy in the Park – east London is known for its exciting restaurant scene and you’ll find a huge range of food and drink options in the area.
• Many of the Park’s restaurants are open for outside seating, including the restaurants at Canalside offering stunning views of the canal.
• We can’t guarantee warm weather this spring, but it’s always time for ice cream! Try La Gelatiera in East Village for artisan gelato, or look out for the ice cream van in the north of the Park for a classic 99!
Get active – your way
• With wide, smooth pathways and easily accessible canal paths, the Park is a great place to run or cycle – no matter your fitness level! Use the Park map to help plan your route, and you’ll find cycle hire docking stations around the Park, and across east London, too.
• While many of the Park’s venues remain closed for now, some outdoor fitness facilities are open for use. This includes the free outdoor gym spaces in the south of the Park and outdoor court and pitch hire at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
Enjoy the Park safely
• The Park and all venues and facilities around it will be following Government guidelines regarding reopening, and we kindly ask that all visitors do the same regarding group sizes – meaning up to six people or two households are now able to meet outdoors.
• Before planning your visit, take a look at our Coronavirus updates page for the latest information.
The Park is open daily and free to enter, and just a short walk from Stratford, east London.
