Hackney Half Marathon road closures

Hackney Half Marathon road closures

Story 20/04/2015

Run Hackney Half Marathon will be taking place at 9am on Sunday 10 May 2015. This is an exciting event expected to attract around 12,500 runners to the London boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham.

In planning the event every effort is made to minimise the disruption caused with the closing of roads. Road closures will be in operation from 7am in most areas and will re-open once runners have passed by, and it is safe and feasible to do so. Roads will be re-opened fully by 2pm.

There will be closures in the London boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham. Around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park the following roads will be affected by the closures:

  • Southern Loop Road (between Carpenters Road and Marshgate Lane)
  • Carpenters Road (between the London Aquatics Centre car park and White Post Lane)
  • Clarnico Lane
  • Waterden Road
  • Westfield Avenue (between Waterden Road and Olympic Park Avenue)
  • Olympic Park Avenue (northbound only) – a one way system southbound will operate between Westfield Avenue and Honour Lea Avenue
  • North Road
  • Eastway (between Waterden Road and Osbourne Road) – access for the MSCP will be maintained

If you do need to drive your vehicle on the morning of Sunday 10 May, please make every effort to avoid driving during the closure periods, and where possible, consider parking vehicles on alternative streets on the evening of Saturday 9 May to enable you to carry out your journey.

We appreciate your understanding with any inconvenience you experience due to these restrictions, and hope this advance notice helps with planning your travel around the closures. If you require any further information, or a detailed list of the diversions that will be in place, we can be contacted by email on runhackney@go2events.org.uk or on 0845 304 5443 (calls charged at local rate). Further updates will be placed on the event website www.runhackney.com
