Final stage of Stadium transformation work begins after a summer of spectacular events
Story 11/12/2015
The former Olympic Stadium has closed for the last time as it undergoes the final stage of transformation work before re-opening for the arrival of West Ham United Football Club next summer.
This year saw the Stadium host a diverse programme of exhilarating events, starting with more than 17,000 people taking to the famous London 2012 Games track for the Great Newham London Run in July and culminating in fast and furious weekend of motorsport for the Race of Champions in November. 500,000 spectators have experienced the unrivalled atmosphere of the Stadium, cheering on family, friends, elite athletes and the world’s top rugby players as they’ve delivered more magical sporting moments in this world-class venue.
