February half-term on the Park

February half-term on the Park

Story 06/02/2020

After such a long January, it’s hard to believe we’re nearly midway through February already – which means the half-term holidays are almost upon us! From playgrounds to skills sessions – not to mention unique experiences – the Park is jam-packed with ways to while away the holidays, and the whole family is bound to find something they enjoy.

Little adventurers will love letting off steam at the Park’s free playgrounds, from the bright red structures in the south of the Park’s Pleasure Gardens to the treehouses, slides and swings of Tumbling Bay. For an even bigger (and taller) challenge, take a trip up the ArcelorMittal Orbit to learn fun facts about London’s skyline from the 80m viewing platform – then zip down the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide for an unforgettable end to your visit!

There are some great opportunities to try new things or build on existing skills at the Park’s iconic sporting venues. Fit For Sport will be running their fun all-day activity camp at the Copper Box Arena, while over at Lee Valley VeloPark young riders of all abilities can try out various types of cycling including BMX, track and mountain biking. The London Aquatics Centre is holding short courses in swimming and diving, as well as being home to the ever-popular Ultimate Aqua Splash for the holidays. With its inflatable assault courses, floats and drop-slides, it’s fantastic fun and perfect for rainy days!

Exploring the Park – all 560 acres of it – is a day out in itself, from green parklands and pretty canal paths to colourful flowerbeds and hidden gardens to discover. Why not download one of our free trails and set off on a journey around the Park at your own pace!

Having fun is hungry work, so don’t forget to stop off at one of the many cafés and restaurants around the Park to really make a day of it. Whether you’re grabbing a light bite from Signorelli’s, settling in with a coffee at Timber Lodge Café (which, being next to Tumbling Bay playground, is the perfect parent hang-out) or enjoying an early dinner from one of the friendly restaurants in East Village.

As well as being free to enter and highly accessible (you’ll find plenty of step-free routes), the Park is easy to get to no matter where you’re coming from. It might be hard to believe it when you’re surrounded parklands and wildlife, but the Park is just ten minutes from Central London and well-connected to a number of bus routes, tube and train lines!
