CHOBHAM MANOR MILESTONE REACHED AS PARK NEARS RE-OPENING

CHOBHAM MANOR MILESTONE REACHED AS PARK NEARS RE-OPENING

Press Release 30/05/2013

The first residential neighbourhood planned for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has taken a major step forward after the developers behind the project submitted their Zonal Masterplan for the scheme.

The Legacy Communities Scheme – the London Legacy Development Corporation’s proposals for the regeneration of the Park – was granted outline planning permission last year. The scheme includes 6,800 new homes across five new neighbourhoods. Chobham Manor will be the first neighbourhood to be developed.

Now, Chobham Manor LLP – a partnership of leading national housebuilder Taylor Wimpey and L&Q, one of London’s largest residential developers – have submitted a Zonal Masterplan for approval by The Legacy Corporation’s Local Planning Authority.

The submission of the Zonal Masterplan follows public consultation events held earlier in the year. Further events will be held in the summer, where the public will be able to view, and comment on, detailed proposals to be included in the reserved matters application for the first phase of new homes at Chobham Manor.

Dennis Hone, Chief Executive of London Legacy Development Corporation, said:

“This milestone demonstrates the tremendous progress being made on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Housing is hugely important and Chobham Manor will set the tone for the high quality neighbourhoods we want to create across the Park with new schools, health centres and community spaces to support them that will serve generations of Londoners to come.”

Simon Brown, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey East London, said:

“The submission of the Zonal Masterplan is a significant milestone for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.”

“We will be unveiling our detailed development plans for public inspection at a series of events which will be held in the local area.

“The events are due to take place during the summer and will be publicised well in advance to ensure local people have every opportunity to attend.”

Simon Baxter, Assistant Director (Design and Planning) for L&Q, said:

“This scheme is going to create a new benchmark for the quality of family homes in east London. We will create well-designed, energy-efficient homes for people on a range of incomes.”

Families in the new homes and surrounding communities will be supported by two nurseries, two multi-purpose community spaces, neighbourhood shops and the nearby Chobham Academy School.

Chobham Manor will be within walking distance of Stratford International Station and Stratford Regional Station which offer 10 lines to a third of London’s rail and underground stations.

The first new homes are anticipated to go on sale in early 2015 at Chobham Manor, which will be located between the East Village and Lee Valley VeloPark at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
