Brand new designs for Olympicopolis project released
Press Release 18/01/2019
Stratford Waterfront site is situated next to the London Aquatics Centre and will see a new V&A for east London, a 600-seat theatre for Sadler’s Wells, a new campus for UAL’s London College of Fashion and a residential development. Talks are also continuing with the Smithsonian Institution to open its first permanent museum outside of the United States on the site.
The design of Stratford Waterfront is the work of a team of renowned architects, designers and master planners led by Allies and Morrison, including RIBA Royal Gold Medal winners O’Donnell and Tuomey, and Arquitecturia.
The Olympicopolis project is an amazing project which will ultimately deliver one of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park's most important long-term goals - the creation of a new metropolitan heart for east London.
The second part of the Olympicopolis project will be located to the south of the ArcelorMittal Orbit and will deliver a brand new university campus for UCL (University College London), known as UCL East.
Building work on both the UCL East and Stratford Waterfront sites is expected to start in 2018 with an anticipated completion date for phase one of the scheme of 2020/21.
The project will create around 3,000 jobs, attract 1.5 million visitors a year and deliver a £2.8bn boost to the economy of Stratford and the surrounding communities.
