The best ways to celebrate Valentine's Day around the Park
Story 08/02/2021
February the 14th has crept up on us again, and we think it’s the perfect time to spread a little cheer! Whether you love to celebrate Valentine’s Day or usually have an aversion to heart-shaped balloons, make this the year you show those closest to you – be it partners, friends or family – that you love them. With that in mind, we’ve got some great ideas for Valentine’s Day around the Park, including ways to celebrate even if you’re not able to visit us at the moment!
Enjoy the peace
Spending a lot of time at home makes us appreciate the outdoors so much more, and the Park is the perfect place to spend your daily walk. Alongside the green parklands in the north of the Park, you’ll find beautiful banks of daffodils, winding canal paths and pretty, peaceful gardens to explore with your other half. There’s also The Line, London’s first dedicated art walk, starting at the Park and following the waterways and the line of the Greenwich Meridian to The O2.
Please remember to follow social distancing rules at all times.
Make plans for dinner
The Park is well known for its fantastic array of cafes and restaurants, with many of them cleverly adapting to the new guidelines. The award-winning floating restaurant, Barge East, has a special Valentine’s Day meal box available for local delivery, while East Village’s Darkhorse is also offering a four-course dinner for two for local delivery or collection (so you can pick it up after your stroll). For those further afield, try the Randy’s Wing Bar Cook at Home kits – offering nationwide delivery, so you can enjoy a taste of east London wherever you may be!
Plan a day to remember
With everything looking a little different this year, why not give the gift of fun days out to come? Perfect if you’re not local enough to the Park to visit at the moment, you can pick up vouchers to Ride The Slide or enjoy Skyline Views at the ArcelorMittal Orbit – with vouchers valid for 18 months, you’ve plenty of time to wait for the right time to visit. Make a real trip of it – not to mention making their Valentine’s Day – with vouchers for a stay at The Stratford Hotel too.
Send a gift with meaning
The Park is home to a number of small businesses, makers and creatives, many of whom offer delivery on their products. So, wherever you live and whoever you’re sending to, they can enjoy a little piece of the Park with love. Perk up their weekend with a bag of coffee from The Roasting Shed or find something to dress a work-from-home desk from Manzo Design, based out of Hackney Bridge.
