ArcelorMittal Goes Gold for the World Cup this summer

Story 10/06/2014

As football fans across the country gear up for the start of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil (12 June – 13 July), the ArcelorMittal Orbit has pledged its support by promising to turn gold from tip to toe if England win the cup.

In the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where gold medal winners were rewarded with golden post boxes, should England win the World Cup, all 114.5 meters of the iconic sculpture will be transformed into a shining tower of gold.

Throughout the World Cup, the EastTwenty Bar & Kitchen at the base of the ArcelorMittal Orbit will screen every England match, a total of seven games if they reach the final. Fans can enjoy a selection of fresh, seasonal dishes and snacks as they cheer on their favourite team.

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is a fantastic day out for footballing families with stunning panoramas over twenty miles of London, including views of Wembley and many of London’s top football stadiums. As they return to ground, visitors can immerse themselves in a fantastic soundscape which includes the cheering crowds of London 2012 Games, football at Upton Park and other iconic sounds of the capital.

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is open daily 10am – 6pm (last entry 5pm) and tickets cost £7 for children, £15 for adults, £40 for a family ticket (two adults/two children) and £12 for concessions. Local residents enjoy £2 off standard ticket price.
