A Reserved Matters Application (RMA) to transform London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) sites around Hackney Wick station into a new neighbourhood centre have been submitted by Notting Hill Genesis.

The Hackney Wick RMA will provide 190 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable, and which will be five per cent larger than national standards. Across four buildings there will be a mix of London Affordable Rent, shared ownership and private sale housing.

Creatives and small businesses will be able to benefit from more than 4,000sqm of commercial space, (24%) of which will be secured as low cost.

LLDC has invested in high quality architecture to support the wider transformation of the area into a thriving town centre, supporting existing communities and the development of new homes with re-provision of affordable workspaces. The overall neighbourhood centre will build upon the unique character and businesses in the area with further jobs and commercial opportunities planned and space for new retail, restaurants, bars and community facilities being provided.

There will also be more than 4,000sqm of new, high quality public space plus further residential play areas, roof terraces and podiums. The Reserved Matters Application is compliant with the New London Plan for cycle parking provision and has a focus on sustainability, with no fossil fuels needed to power the homes or commercial space.

The site is owned by the London Legacy Development Corporation and sits on the border of Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Notting Hill Genesis were chosen as development partner in March 2021.

The design team is led by Hawkins\Brown with Delvendahl Martin and Studio Weave.

Full planning approval is expected later this year followed with works beginning in the latter part of 2022.The buildings and public realm are due to be completed in 2025.
