Andrea Stark FRSA named Director of Foundation for FutureLondon
Story 16/03/2016
The Foundation for FutureLondon, the charity created to help realise the potential of the Park's groundbreaking Olympicopolis project, has appointed Andrea Stark FRSA as Director.
Andrea has an outstanding track record in the arts, cultural and regeneration sectors. As Chief Executive of High House Production Park, she led efforts to convert a fourteen acre derelict site on the Thames Estuary into a centre of excellence for creative industries and education. Previously, Andrea held senior roles in the sector, which include Executive Director at Arts Council England, Chief Executive of East England Arts and Chief Officer of Arts and Culture, Dundee City Council.
Foundation for FutureLondon has been established to support the Mayor's Olympicopolis project. As the latest addition to the world's most ambitious and successful Games legacy programme, Olympicopolis will create a brand new cultural and educational heart for east London.
The organisation is working with a wide range of partners to bring forward the development. World-class institutions moving to Olympicopolis include Victoria & Albert Museum, (University College London) UCL East, UAL’s London College of Fashion and Sadler’s Wells. Advanced discussions are underway with the Smithsonian Institution to secure their involvement.
Andrea Stark said: “I am thrilled to join Foundation for FutureLondon. I look forward to working with east London’s thriving arts and culture community and the outstanding group of institutions locating to Olympicopolis. I’ve no doubt that together we will bring this dream to life.”
Sir William Castell, Chairman, Foundation for FutureLondon, said: “I am delighted that Andrea is joining Foundation for FutureLondon at such an exciting time. She comes with huge experience and influence, which will be crucial in taking forward our work on Olympicopolis, east London’s new cultural and education district, for the benefit of all east Londoners.”
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson MP, said: “Olympicopolis is a flagship project and an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people living around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, through cultural activity, access to education facilities and job opportunities. It is a key part of the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and there’s no doubt Andrea Stark has the breadth of experience to drive the vision forward.”
