Quick-off-the-mark property-hunters have rushed to snap up their pick of the plots at Chobham Manor, the first residential neighbourhood on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Leading national homebuilder Taylor Wimpey and L&Q, one of London’s largest residential developers, launched the first phase of homes for private sale at Chobham Manor on Friday 30 May.
Over the first weekend, 48 open market homes were reserved by purchasers who were keen to set up home on the Park in Stratford, east London, which hosted the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The homes at Chobham Manor benefit from an incredible location, bordering Lee Valley VeloPark, the wide open spaces of the north of the Park and East Village, the former Olympic athletes’ village.
The London Legacy Development Corporation and Chobham Manor LLP, a joint venture between Taylor Wimpey and L&Q, have designed a neighbourhood suitable for a wide-range of Londoners who want to build their lives in an exciting new community, including well-designed homes for people on a range of incomes. Seventy-five per cent of the homes will be family homes with three or more bedrooms and twenty-eight per cent will be affordable homes, the first of which will go on sale in summer 2015.
The first release of homes for sale on the open market comprises four-bedroom houses and three-bedroom maisonettes and duplex apartments, with prices starting at £485,000.
Michael O’Leary, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East London, says: “Chobham Manor is destined to become one of London’s most sought-after addresses and so we have not been surprised by the number of reservations we’ve taken for the open market homes over the launch weekend.
“Those who are lucky enough to make it their home will have a raft of world-class sporting facilities on their doorstep, the shops, restaurants and entertainment of Westfield Stratford City within a short walk from home, new places to work on the Park, plus a host of convenient commuter links. Chobham Manor will also benefit from a number of community facilities and a wealth of green open spaces.
“Not only does Chobham Manor enjoy an enviable location, but we also appointed a top-notch design team drawn from several of the capital’s leading architectural practices to develop a portfolio of homes that will be deserving of such a high-profile scheme.
“Whether you are hunting for your first home, upsizing, downsizing or seeking a place to share with friends or your extended family, we have the type of home to suit your lifestyle.”
Jerome Geoghegan, L&Q’s Group Director for Development and Sales said: “The successful launch of the first homes at Chobham Manor is an exciting milestone for this landmark development. With our partners, we are creating well-designed homes for people on a range of incomes.”
Dennis Hone, Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “We’re thrilled to see so much interest in the high-quality homes at Chobham Manor. A lot of hard work has gone into designing a neighbourhood that will be a symbol of the regeneration of east London and an example for future developments at the Park.”
Visitors to Chobham Manor have the opportunity to explore the two magnificent new showhomes and can view digital walkthroughs, models and floorplans of selected properties in the state-of-the-art Chobham Manor Sales and Marketing Suite.
Chobham Manor will consist of five principal types of housing planned for the development – townhouses, mews-style properties, maisonettes, mansion blocks and terraced apartments – ranging in size from one to five-bedrooms, and with prices for one-bedroom properties starting from £325,000.
Some properties have been designed to appeal to multiple generations of the same family, all family-sized properties will include private gardens and every home at Chobham Manor will be designed to the Lifetime Homes Standard, ensuring they are wheelchair accessible.
In addition to homes, the first phase of Chobham Manor will also include retail space, play areas and communal gardens.
The Sales and Marketing Suite and showhomes, located at Olympic Park Avenue, E20 5LR, are open daily between 10am and 5.30pm. Alternatively, the Sales Executive can be contacted on 020 3435 9269, while more details can be found at www.chobhammanor.co.uk.
