Additional experts are wanted for the independent Quality Review Panel that helps shape the future design of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding area. 

The Quality Review Panel has 20 members and tests the fundamental design principles of planning proposals both at pre-application stage and as part of the application process itself. They support the work of the Legacy Corporation’s Planning Decisions Team which has considered new developments for the Park and the surrounding area since 1 October 2012.

To date, the Panel has provided comments on major schemes in the Park including Chobham Manor, Here East and Canal Park. It has also been invited to comment on schemes in the wider area, including East Village, The International Quarter and several mixed use developments in the Hackney Wick and Fish Island areas. 

New panel members are being sought to strengthen the range of expertise provided by the Panel. Applications are welcome from experts in the following areas:

• public space and landscape design
• civil or structural engineering
• building services engineering / sustainability
• architecture in the context of historic buildings

Peter Studdert, Chair of the Quality Review Panel, said:

“The Quality Review Panel plays an important role in helping the Legacy Corporation achieve the highest possible quality standards in the new developments that are coming forward within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods.  There are some exciting and challenging projects being proposed, and we are looking for people who can make a positive and thoughtful contribution to our work based on real practical experience.”

Applications should be addressed to Fortismere Associates, who manage the panel to maintain the independence of its advice. Those who wish to apply should send a CV including two referees, and a covering letter outlining the contribution they could make to the panel to LLDC@fortismere-associates.co.uk. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Monday 13 October.

You should be able to commit to attending approximately 6 – 8 meetings per year. Appointment will initially be for the calendar year starting October 2014. Remuneration will be set at £300/day for panel members.
