New panel members wanted to help shape the future of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park | 2017
Press Release 02/05/2017
London Legacy Development Corporation is inviting applications for membership of the Quality Review Panel. Since 2012, the panel has supported the Legacy Corporation’s Planning Policy and Decisions Team in securing the highest possible design standards within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its surrounding neighbourhoods.
New panel members are being sought to strengthen the range of expertise that the panel provides. Applications are welcome from experts in the following areas:
- architecture
- landscape design and public space
- inclusive design
- development delivery
The panel – which has around 30 members – tests the fundamental design principles of planning proposals both at pre-application stage and as part of the application process itself.
It has provided advice on schemes in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, including Chobham Manor, East Village, International Quarter London, and mixed use developments in Fish Island, Pudding Mill and Hackney Wick. Two areas of the park are now being transformed into a new cultural and education district – bringing together world class institutions, including Sadler’s Wells, UAL’s London College of Fashion, and a new campus for UCL (University College London).
Peter Studdert, chair of the Quality Review Panel, said:
"The Quality Review Panel continues to play an important role in helping the Legacy Corporation to achieve high quality design for new development. We are looking for people whose practical experience will add to the panel’s expertise and make a real contribution to the exciting – and sometimes challenging – projects that are now coming forward".
Applications should be addressed to Frame Projects, which manages the Quality Review Panel to maintain the independence of its advice. Those who wish to apply should send a CV, and a covering letter outlining the contribution that they could make to the panel, to lldc@frame-projects.co.uk. The closing date for applications is 17.00 on Monday 15 May 2017.
Applicants should be able to commit to attending approximately six to eight meetings a year. Appointment will initially be for the 2017-2018 period and remuneration will be set at £400 per day.
