The Slide Turns Three!
Story 24/06/2019
Hip, hip hooray, The Slide is three today! And what a three years it has been. Over 350,000 people have experienced the intense twists, turns and drops of the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide – and at 178m long, that means sliders have covered a total distance of 38,711 miles! Contributing to those miles have been sliders young and old, thrill-seekers, people overcoming their fears, famous faces, school groups, TV shows, and many more proving that The Slide really is a must visit attraction at the Park.
To celebrate The Slide’s birthday, thousands more tickets have been released for the summer. So, whether you’ve never been but always wanted to go or you’re a seasoned slider ready for more fun, there’s plenty more opportunities to brave London’s most hair-raising experience. Explore the tranquil skyline views of up to 20 miles across London before challenging your friends and family to take on The Slide’s 40 second descent. With light and dark sections, you’ll catch glimpses of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London skyline before being plunged into darkness where you’ll be left guessing which way you’ll drop next. And with speeds of up to 15mph, 12 twists and turns and a devilish corkscrew at the end named ‘the bettfeder’ – bedspring in German – you’ll be screaming for more by the time you get to the bottom.
