The FREE ice cream contains ingredients that will naturally enhance each rider’s experience of the exhilarating 40-second trip. Every scoop contains five sensory stimulants including pure caffeine for a boost of adrenaline, cocoa nibs, black walnut and chocolate designed to heighten sense perception and a pinch of espresso to increase heart rate as riders twist, turn and cork screw down the 178m long slide. It is served with a spritz of citrus scent that is proven to further awaken the senses. Those brave enough to indulge will be asked to sign a waiver to confirm they’re ready for such a rush. 

For one day only, riders will be invited to eat one scoop of the ice cream at the base of the ArcelorMittal Orbit before ascending the 114.5m tall sculpture to the viewing platform, which offers panoramic views of the Park and the London skyline. The full effects of the Ice Scream have been designed to kick in once riders reach the mouth of The Slide and begin their 178 metre long descent. The result is to create one of the most exhilarating rides anywhere in the world, leaving riders buzzing for hours … and sometimes even days afterwards.

Peter Tudor, Director of Visitor Services at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park said: “The Slide is already a hair-raising experience. On the way down you can hit speeds of up to 15mph, which makes for one of the most thrilling rides in the world.  And this summer, with some of the fastest people on the planet taking to the track next door in the London Stadium, we want Ice Scream to take us to top of the podium for thrill seekers everywhere.”

The Ice Scream has been created in partnership with food designers The Robin Collective and is available FREE to anyone riding The Slide on Saturday July 29th - while stocks last. A child-friendly version is also available using weaker ingredients such as green tea, guarana and passion fruit flower – all of which will heighten the senses but to a lesser degree than the adult counter-part.

Food designer Brandy Klingelpuss from The Robin Collective, said: “Not only have we created the Ice Scream to stimulate an adrenaline hit, we’ve based the recipe on natural stimulant flavours such as coffee and cocoa. The actual ice cream is not only effective for that ‘ride the slide’ rush but also incredibly delicious too!”
