CHILDREN CAN WATCH USAIN BOLT FOR JUST £9.58 AT LONDON 2017

Story 22/04/2016

The competition schedule and ticket prices for the 2017 World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships, which will take place in the Stadium, have been announced.

1.5 million tickets will go on sale on 1 August for the Summer of World Athletics – 800,000 for the World ParaAthletics Championships (from 14 – 23 July 2017) and 700,000 for the World Championships from 4 – 13 August 2017). Public sales will be held via ballot, with applications opening at 10.00am 1 August and closing at 20.17pm on 22 August 2016. Prior to this there will be a priority sale window for pre-registered members of the athletics family in May and June 2016.

The World Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships, held in the same city in the same year for the first time ever, will bring together world-class athletes from over 200 countries who will compete in 30 sessions across 20 jam-packed and action-fuelled days.

11-time World Champion Usain Bolt said: “I always say that the children are the future and I commend the organisers of London 2017 on this initiative to give young people the chance to buy affordable tickets. I hope it will inspire many of them to get into athletics and look forward to seeing many young people filling seats next summer.”

ParaAthletics’ T37 400m World Champion and world record holder Georgie Hermitage said: “Next summer’s World ParaAthletics Championships are going to be incredible. I was one of many that started competing again as a result of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, so having the opportunity to continue my journey from where it started will be incredible.  I was one of 80,000 in the crowd at the Olympic Stadium cheering on the British team, and it will be a feeling like no other to have that support once again but this time as an athlete. It’s great to see tickets as such competitive prices and I would encourage everyone to come and see the biggest stars in the sport.”

To be part of the biggest sporting event held in the Stadium since the London 2012 Games, register your interest in purchasing tickets on the London 2017 website and stay tuned for the latest updates. Tickets will be available via ballot to general public on 1 August 2016. Child tickets for all sessions cost under £10 across both Championships and World Record’ prices including all children’s tickets at the IAAF World Championships will cost £9.58 (Usain Bolt’s 100m).
