Main Stage

BBC Music Introducing - Look out for the fantastic breakthrough acts Aman Sangha and Jernade Miah brought to you by BBC Music Introducing.

Sadler's Wells - East Bank partner Sadler's Wells presents performances from Phoenix Dance Company alongside a group from Big Creative Education.

Breakin' Convention - Join your host, Artistic Director Jonzi D, for a Breakin' Convention takeover of the Main Stage with hip hop, dance, rap and a DJ set from special guests Gully South Block, Hertz - Bboy, Tyler Humble, RARE Collective and DJ Sev Raven.

East London Dance - Two groups from this local dance charity will be gracing the Main Stage. Look out for 'Leap of Faith' the over 60s group who partner with the English National Ballet and have performed on stages across London. Then see the 'Youth Dance Company' for a dynamic dance and workshop including a mass participation element!

Luna Marie Music - Solo musician and vocalist from east London who's music has featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra's RnB show.

London School of Samba - Revel in a performance and parade of the traditional Brazilian carnival art.

Speaker Box Street Party - A vibrant and energetic social dancing event that brings people together in a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

East Bank Activities

London College of Fashion, UAL - Join London College of Fashion for 'Sustained Protest'. Upcycle your wardrobe in a free, all-ages drop-in workshop, or simply chill out in our groovy 1960s hang-out. Talk fashion and social change while NTS DJs spins a wild mix of post-punk, dub, synth, and psychedelic sounds. It's a day to express yourself, transform your clothes, and groove to the beat of change! 

UCL - Get involved with a series of creative workshops from UCL. First take part in activities that examine how cities could be built in the future to deal with increasing temperatures and make your very own heat activated 'cyanotype' print. Then enjoy an infrared photographic urban climate walk through the surrounding area. Finally, discover Kupala Tree Decoration with crepe-paper flower making to help decorate a ritual tree with flowers and learn about the centrepiece of a midsummer celebration in Ukraine.

V&A - Explore the theme of gift giving whilst paying homage to the most iconic markets of east London with these arts & crafts activities from V&A. Try out paper flower bouquets making with Waymaker Kids and use natural materials to make badges with Lu Williams of Grrrl Zine Fair.

Riverside East Stage

Sadler's Wells - A series of different local community groups run by Sadler's Wells will be performing at the Riverside East Stage! Look out for EKTA, an over 60 South Asian Women's group from East Ham; Pembury, an over 50s group from Hackney; and St Hildas, an over 50s group from Tower Hamlets. Then get involved with a dance taster and opportunity to show off your moves at a family freestyle session.

Breakin' Convention Youth Take Over - The youth branch of this award-winning, critically acclaimed hip-hop group will lead a series of workshops and performances.

Adore Dance London - Celebrate the joy of dance in an interactive performance from our local dance school. From Disney favourites to popular music, there's sure to be something to get you moving!

East London Dance - Get involved with vibrant, family friendly dance classes led by this local dance charity!

True Cadence - Get excited for a live performance event consisting of different genres of music performed by local young people from Barking & Dagenham and Tower Hamlets. Each song addresses a particular social issue affecting the boroughs. This performance promises to entertain visitors with songs that send a positive message.

X7eaven - Music and dance combine in this performance which spans from African beats to the rich sound of Soca.

 

Everyone Active Sports Zone

Everyone Active - The operators of the London Aquatics Centre will be hosting Newham Swim Club and Dive London for fun drop in sports activities!

Badu Sports - Local sporting legends, Badu, will be bringing a host of activities designed to keep you fit and moving! From archery to yoga sessions, plus massages, henna and challenges like skipping - there's so much to get involved in.

Olympic Karate Inc - Learn some self-defence movements from Olympic Karate Inc. Aimed at children and young teenagers with sessions delivered safely by trained instructors.

Adore Dance - Get involved with zumba and salsa classes from this local dance school.

Additional Sporting Fun

Better Gyms - Get involved with some sporting and gym based challenges and activities with row-athons, short tennis games and prize giveaways. 

Bikeworks - Take part in an adapted cycling tryout session, so both those with and without disabilities can try the range of cycles Bikeworks offer.

Skate Cabal - Join Skate Cabal's Roll Fest for a day filled with fun, community and roller-skating! Roll Fest welcomes all ages and skill levels and will even feature a roller disco to conclude the day of skating fun. 

Community Workshops

Art Matters - Join a drop-in creative workshop for families and young people! Use recycled materials and scale figures to use to make your own small architectural models. Then each model will be photographed (before you take it home) and displayed as part of this year’s Art Matters exhibition

Co-Creative Collection - Develop your artistic skills and create a 3D cardboard portrait of yourself or someone meaningful to you!

Good Growth Hub - Help craft a pottery project titled 'Community Grow' with the finished product being donated to local organisations.

Unity in the Community - Come together and contribute to a collaborative hand-paint mural.

Rise365 - Be creative as you tie-die your very own tote bag or give back to the community and help tie-die socks which will be distributed to a homeless shelter in Hackney.

Rosetta Arts - Work with the community to create a collective mural from acrylic paint and brushes on a blank canvas adorned with nature-inspired templates.

Skaped - Participate in the 'Act of Kindness' project and help design postcards which aim to spread joy and messages to members of the community.

Drumming Area

Step into the Drumming Area for workshops and performances from one of these specialist groups: 

Mbilla Arts - African drumming workshop incorporating West African dance with special performance from four professional African drummers playing djembe drums led by Gambian drummer Seneke Sillah.

Iroko Theatre Company - Join an inclusive traditional African drumming workshop, incorporating movement, singing and chanting to help encourage family bonding, social interaction and your overall wellbeing.

What is the Great Get Together about?  

The Great Get Together is a free outdoor festival taking place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This is an annual event which was previously called the Big Lunch.  

The event will be a celebratory festival with a combination of live entertainment including music, dance, street theatre, sports activities, and workshops from a variety of local providers.

What are the aims of the event?

The Great Get Together aims are:  

  • To celebrate the community of east London and to welcome the community onto Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to experience everything the Park has to offer now and in the future, showcasing activities for everyone to enjoy.  
  • To inspire local communities, groups and organisations to come and join us in celebrating the vibrant community we live and work in.

When is the event?

Saturday 15 June 2024, 12-7pm.

Where in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is the event?

The event is located in the south of the Park. More information about exact locations of stages and activity areas will be released closer to the event date.

How to win £100 food and drink voucher at Riverside East?

The competition to win a £100 voucher to spend on food and drink at the brand new Riverside East is now closed. The winner was contacted on 11 June. See full terms and conditions.

Is everything at the Great Get Together free? Will I have to pay for anything?

Entrance into the Great Get Together is free along with all activities, performances and workshops. However there is a charge for food and drinks purchased from food stalls and retailers.

I require Blue Badge parking, where can I park?  

Blue Badge Parking is available at the following locations:  

  • London Aquatics Centre 
  • Copper Box Arena  
  • Lee Valley VeloPark  
  • Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre 
  • Timber Lodge Café (on street parking only)  
  • Blue Badge Holders are able to use all car parks without being limited to venues only. All holders are exempt from the car parking charges on displaying a valid blue badge on exit. 
  • Once you arrive at the car park exit, simply press the intercom button and one the Parking Services Team have verified your blue badge the barrier arm will lift. 

Is the event wheelchair friendly?

The event site is accessible for wheelchair uses and has been designed to ensure that level routes are provided across the whole Park.

Where are the accessible toilets?

Toilets located next to the Riverside East has 1 x Changing Places toilet.  

There are also additional accessible toilets installed as part of the event. These accessible toilets can be found:  

  • Near to the event information tent – located between London Aquatics Centre and London Stadium  
  • Mandeville Place

Will there be toilets and baby changing facilities? 

There is a dedicated baby changing space next to the Park Information Tent.  

There will be staff and signs providing directions to where the toilets and baby changing facilities are. 

Will there be an information point at the event?  

Our very own Park Champions will be running an information point which will be a hub information about the event.  

This will be situated on the bridge by the London Aquatics Centre.  

There will be dedicated Event Security provision onsite to be able to assist people – please look out for anyone in a high visibility jacket/vest should you need to get in touch.

Will there be road closures?

To facilitate the safe movement of people around the Great Get Together, a road closure will be implemented. More information will be released closer to the event date.

What are the expected number of attendees?  

We expect the event to be busy throughout the day.

Will there be somewhere quiet to go? 

The event is in the South of the park. The London Blossom Garden and the Great British Gardens are nearby spaces designed to be quiet restful environments.

Will there be food and drinks available?

In addition to the Park kiosks and other retailers, there will be a variety of concessions that refreshments can be purchased from. These will offer a wide range of food and beverage options with vegetarian, vegan and halal options.

Do I need to bring anything to the event?  

Just yourselves! You do not require a ticket to enter.  

Please bear in mind that most activities take place outdoors, so remember to check the weather forecast before you leave the house and be prepared for a range of changeable weather conditions. 

Will there be access to drinking water?

There is access to free water on site at the first aid point, in addition to this bottled water will be available to buy from stalls. There will also be water coolers available in the welfare areas.

Is there shelter if it rains?

Whilst a lot of the event is open air, there are some activities which take place in covered marquees.
