Car parking charges at the London Aquatics Centre and Multi Storey Car Park at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are increasing for the first time in two years. 

Following a review and in response to feedback, we have agreed with GLL, the operators of the London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena under the Better brand, that Better members will be entitled to a member parking discount.

In order for members to be able to benefit from this discount, the start date will move from Monday 20 February 2017 to Saturday March 4 2017. 

For non-members: 

From Saturday 04 March 2017, the car parking charges will be £2.00 an hour (up to a maximum of £20.00). See table below for more information. 

For London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena members: 

From Saturday 04 March 2017, the car parking charges will be £1.00 per hour from the first hour up to three hours, and £5.00 for between three and five hours. See table below for more information.

Blue Badge parking remains free.

Public transport is the best and easiest way to get to and from London Aquatics Centre – by train, underground, bus or bicycle. More information can be found here.

What is happening?

The car park tariffs for the London Aquatics Centre and Multi Storey Car Park at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are increasing on Saturday 04 March, 2017 for the first time since they re-opened after the Games. The money will be reinvested in the Park and its facilities, so that millions of people can continue to enjoy them every year.

Blue Badge users can continue to park for free.

There is no charge from 5:30am to 7am each day.

Why is this being introduced?

From its inception as an Olympic host venue, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was designed to be easily accessible by a wide range of public transport routes, as well as cycling and walking. The majority of people come to London Aquatics Centre this way so won’t be affected by the changes. 

This is the first change to the car parking charges in more than two years. The money will be reinvested in London Aquatics Centre and the Park, so that millions of people can continue to enjoy them every year.

Blue Badge users can continue to park for free.

There is no charge if you exit the car park within five minutes of arrival.

The car parks are for venue users only, and non-venue users will be charged £45.

When is the new tariff being introduced?

The new tariff will be introduced on Saturday 04 March 2017.

Where does the increase apply?

This increase applies to London Aquatics Centre and the Multi Storey Car Park at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It does not apply to the car parks located at the Lee Valley venues – Lee Valley VeloPark and Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre – which are not managed by LLDC. 

Who is a Better member? 

A Better member is anyone with a Better membership in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at the London Aquatics Centre or Copper Box Arena.

Better memberships include: Better Health & Fitness members, Better Swim members, Better Gym members, Swimming Lessons members, Swim School members, Healthwise members, Pay & Play members, Tom Daley Diving Academy members and  all Adult, Junior, Student, and Concession memberships types. 

How do I claim my discount? 

All users registered with the London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena who wish to take advantage of the reduced rates should email their full name, membership number and vehicle number plate to legacy.venues@gll.org with the email subject line ‘Member Car Registration’. There is a limit of one vehicle registration number per member. The registration number will be logged on the automatic number plate recognition system, and the reduced rate will be offered when you use the payment terminal.

How do I register my vehicle? 

To apply for the Better member rate, please email your full name, membership number and vehicle number plate to legacy.venues@gll.org with the email subject line ‘Member Car Registration’.

Can I register two vehicles on one membership?

No, you can only register one vehicle per member.

Does it affect coach parking in the Multi Storey Car Park?

Coach parking remains as before, although coaches may now be registered on arrival as well as through the pre-booking system. The coach park remains as a lay-up area only and is not suitable for the set down of passengers. All of our venues have coach passenger set down areas. I have a Blue Badge; will my car parking costs increase?

We are committed to making the Park as accessible as possible, so no, Blue Badge holders will still benefit from free parking in all of our car parks. 

Will I have to pay a parking charge for my motor bike in a venue car park?

Motor bikes are not charged for parking in our car parks, but we do ask that you park them in the designated motor cycling bay where appropriate, or at the end of a run of marked parking bays.

Will the car parks be available to general Park visitors after this tariff increase? 

No. The venue car parks will remain as parking for venue users only. Non-venue users parking in the car parks will be charged £45.  

Why is there no longer a free drop off facility?

The free official drop off point for the London Aquatics Centre is on Carpenters Road next to the entrance to the car park.  It is a short walk to the main entrance from this point.  

Who runs the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park car parks?

The venue related car parks across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are owned and administered by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and managed on its behalf by Engie Services Ltd.  These facilities are to provide the venues (London Aquatics Centre, Copper Box Arena and Lee Valley VeloPark) with high standard car parking facilities within the constraints of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park planning consents.

How can I get to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park by public transport?

The nearest stations are Stratford station and Stratford International station, both of which are in Zone 2/3 and provide step-free access from entrance to platform:

• Stratford station is served by Docklands Light Railway (DLR) , Jubilee and Central lines, National Rail services operated by Greater Anglia and c2c and London Overground services. Stratford International station is served by Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and Southeastern High Speed 1 services. You can also enter the Park via Hackney Wick station which is on the London Overground.
• The 388 bus runs between Blackfriars in central London and Stratford City near the station entrance, going through the Park and stopping at the Copper Box Arena and Westfield Avenue near the London Aquatics Centre.
• The 308 bus runs between Clapton to Wanstead via Stratford City near the station entrance and Celebration Avenue in East Village (close to the Lee Valley VeloPark).
• The 339 bus runs between Leytonstone and Shadwell, with stops at Stratford City near the station entrance, the London Aquatics Centre, and on Carpenters Road at King's Yard before exiting the Park at White Post Lane.
• The 108 bus runs between Lewisham and Stratford City and Stratford International bus stations, going through the Park including Pool Street (by the London Aquatics Centre).
• Stratford bus station and Stratford City bus station are both located in close proximity to Stratford station and are served by a large number of bus routes.
