With so many Santas needed across London this festive season, the ArcelorMittal Orbit opened its doors to its first ever Santa boot camp. To help them get into character as the famous man in red, Santas were put through their paces with activities such as  ‘sliding’ down the chimney and mapping their route across London’s rooftops. 

The festive troop of would-be Santas spent the morning at the ArcelorMittal Orbit where they tried out a number of activities to get into the spirit and ready to take on the important role of Father Christmas. For the ultimate thrill and experience of what it feels like to deliver presents through a chimney, the Santas braved The Slide, the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide; there was no chance of Santa getting stuck in the ‘chimney’ going at speeds of up to 15mph through 178m of twists and turns!

Next on the boot camp agenda was to map out the rooftops of London. At 114.5m high and with two viewing platforms looking out across the capital’s skyline, the ArcelorMittal Orbit was the perfect spot for the Santas-in-training to imagine having to navigate their way across the iconic rooftops of the city. And last, but by no means least, to end the boot camp there was a fair amount of mince pie eating!   

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is the perfect place for a family day out this Christmas. For the first time ever, visitors can experience the festive fun of the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide as it opens for the Christmas holidays, including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day; you can find out the opening times here. Visit during the day to enjoy crisp winter views across London or as the sun sets to watch the magical lights of the capital twinkle in the twilight sky.

As children (and adults too) open their advent calendars on the countdown to 25 December, the ArcelorMittal Orbit has released two brand new seasonal gift voucher packages in addition to the general entry and The Slide combination tickets; one for those on Santa’s naughty list and one for those on the nice list. Both will make a great addition to the presents under the tree or as a fun-filled day out during the Christmas holiday period.
