After the London 2012 Games, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park went through a two-year transformation to create a destination locals, visitors and international superstars alike would want to spend time. Five years and 27 million visitors later, we like to think it’s become exactly that!

After having the eyes of the world on them throughout the 2012 Games, the Park’s iconic venues opened up for people to experience for themselves. When visiting the Park make some time to take them in, whether swimming under the famous wave-like roof of London Aquatics Centre, speeding round the Lee Valley VeloPark or working up a sweat at Copper Box Arena. London Stadium has continued to host international sporting events and sell-out rock gigs alongside being home to West Ham United, with guided tours giving a fact-filled glimpse behind the scenes. 

The community on and around the Park has grown over the last five years too. New neighbourhoods such as East Village and Chobham Manor have welcomed residents, who have purpose-built schools, independent shops and lively restaurants on their doorsteps. Here East and International Quarter London are thriving and bringing jobs to the area, while the upcoming East Bank project promises the next five years will be just as exciting as we welcome a world class hub for culture and education. 

We’ve been proud of how the Park still brings together residents and visitors alike. Free events such as the Family Fun Days, Harvest Stomps and Great Get Togethers have shown what a lively community we have on the Park, while our playgrounds provide plenty of fun for kids of all ages every day of the year. Innovative design has ensured the Park is as accessible and inclusive as possible, and the daily mobility service – run by our amazing Park Champions – means more people are able to enjoy visiting the Park. 

Looking ahead to this summer, it’s set to be the best yet with Major League Baseball coming to London Stadium – the first venue in Europe to host the sport – along with the Müller Anniversary Games. Watch the world’s best gear up for Tokyo 2020 in the FINA Diving World Series and Street League Skateboarding in May, or get your own pulse racing with one of our 5 or 10K runs through the Park.
