HAVE YOUR SAY ON ROACH POINT BRIDGE IN HACKNEY WICK AND FISH ISLAND

Story 25/10/2022

Plans to improve walking and cycling links between Hackney Wick Station and Fish Island, including upgrades to a bridge, are going out to consultation.

The London Legacy Development Corporation which is responsible for connectivity in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is looking to upgrade Roach Point Bridge as part of the plan which will be put forward for a planning application in December. Consultation on the plans for the replacement Roach Point Bridge connecting Hackney Wick and Fish Island is now underway with LLDC asking to hear local residents and businesses views on the development proposal.

Residents and businesses can have their say by joining the team at the following two drop-in sessions:

  • Drop in session 1: Thursday 27 October 2022. 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Hub 67, Rothbury Road, E9 5HA.
  • Drop in session 2: Tuesday 1 November 2022, 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Two More Years, Roach Road, Fish Island, London E3 2PA

The consultation will run until November 20, 2022.

LLDC has been looking at ways to create a more direct walking and cycle link from Fish Island to Hackney Wick Station. We would therefore like to upgrade the existing Roach Point Bridge, creating a new pedestrian and cycle route to the north linking to White Post Lane. The new bridge would be wider, with improved street lighting, creating a safe alternative to the current tow path route.

This  is  part  of  the  wider  improvements  we  are  making  to  the  area  including  a redesigned  station  and  improved  neighbourhood  centre.

LLDC are planning to submit a planning application in December this year with construction works starting February 2024 and the bridge due to open in February 2025.
