Free fitness activities this New Year for Health and Wellbeing Week at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Press Release 15/01/2019
Step up to new challenges this January. Whether you are looking to get more active, explore our world-class venues and parklands, or simply try something new, Health and Wellbeing Week at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a great place to start.
The week will leave you feeling pumped up as it is packed full of free activities open for anyone to enjoy, including yoga, cycling and women’s only running. There is something to suit all ages and abilities – you can even bring the baby for our buggy exercise classes!
To top things off, we’re offering free gym passes for the iconic multi-sport venue, Copper Box Arena and passes that permit you to swim at London Aquatics Centre - along with exciting competitions and giveaways throughout the week. For those who prefer outdoor settings there are free outdoor courts and tennis sessions at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre for you to arrange games with friends and locals alike. There are also free pay and ride sessions on the road circuit and mountain bike trains at Lee Valley VeloPark, offered by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.
The week-long activities are in a partnership between the London Legacy Development Corporation, Here East, International Quarter London, Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and GLL.
Lyn Garner, CEO of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said:
“We want the Park to be a model of how to balance a healthy and sustainable environment with work and home. There’s something for everyone in the free classes on offer, whether it’s a workout in a world-class venue or a relaxation session in our wonderful parklands. Take part in these free events over the next week.”
Shaun Dawson, Chief Executive of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, said:
“We are delighted to join forces with partners across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to kick start 2019 with great fitness activities. Celebrate our enduring Olympic legacy with mountain biking and road cycling at the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark or a game of tennis at the world class Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.”
Andrew Tobin, Project Director at International Quarter London, said:
“We’re really pleased to be involved in this programme of free activities for Health & Wellbeing Week. Wellbeing is at the heart of IQL’s philosophy, from our workplaces through to our public spaces. Having Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its world-class sporting and leisure facilities on our doorstep is a fantastic benefit for our growing community, and the week’s free events give those who live and work at IQL an opportunity to try something new and exciting to boost their wellness.”
