London Legacy Development Corporation Quality Review Panel chair
Press Release 29/06/2021
The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is inviting applications for the role of chair / co-chair for the Quality Review Panel, which supports the Legacy Corporation’s commitment to high quality design in new development within the area.
LLDC is a Mayoral Development Corporation responsible for the regeneration of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and neighbouring areas in the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. It has responsibility for all planning functions, including development of the Legacy Corporation’s Local Plan and determination of planning applications.
Since 2012 the Quality Review Panel has provided independent expert advice on developments across the Development Corporation area. Peter Studdert, who is stepping down, has chaired the panel since it was established, making a huge contribution to supporting high quality developments including the new East Bank cultural and education district, and residential neighbourhoods at Hackney Wick and Chobham Manor.
Peter Studdert, chair of the LLDC Quality Review Panel, said:
“The task of building on the legacy of the 2012 Olympics is one of the most exciting and challenging regeneration projects in London, and it’s still a work in progress. The Quality Review Panel plays a major role in helping LLDC meet the highest possible standards of design and sustainability, and the Chair plays a key role in ensuring that these standards are met working alongside the planning and design teams at the Corporation and playing a key part in advising its Planning Decisions Committee.”
LLDC is now looking for a new chair / co-chairs for the Quality Review Panel. The panel currently comprises 30 nationally and internationally recognised practitioners with a wide range of expertise and experience – across several disciplines – providing a rigorous review process that supports high quality design for all those who live, work and visit the area.
Applications are encouraged from individuals who have extensive experience of championing high quality urban design and architecture, a demonstrable understanding of how to achieve this through the town planning process and a knowledge of east London, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its surrounding area.
Applications are particularly encouraged from women, people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled people, as these groups are currently under-represented throughout the building industry.
Applications should be addressed to Frame Projects, which manages the Quality Review Panel to maintain the independence of its advice. Those who wish to apply should contact lldc@frame-projects.co.uk to request a recruitment pack and application form.
The closing date for submission of applications is Monday 19 July 2021, at 17.00.
Applicants should be able to commit to attending the required number of meetings a year.
