The furniture had to be playful and interactive but also practical and multifunctional. Students thought about all different types of street furniture for inspiration. Teams submitted a poster explaining how their design works and meets the criteria, the process and evolution, and their final design. Also, teams had to build a 3D model of their design. There were over 30 entries and five from primary and secondary schools were shortlisted.

The shortlisted schools were invited to The Podium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 19th June for the judging afternoon. While the entries were being judged, the lucky students got to ride the slide on the ArcellorMittal Orbit and take part in workshops with the partner institutions. 
The submissions were judged on a variety of things such as originality, practicality, maintenance, response to needs of all ages, and if it fits in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The winners of judge’s and people’s choice were announced live at the event and with each winning school receiving a cash prize of £1,500 Secondary school winner – Buxton school, Waltham Forest. “The whole experience has been nonstop positivity. We learnt about the design process and working as a team.”
Secondary school runner up – Bobby Moore Academy, Newham.  “I really enjoyed designing my idea and meeting the kind and supportive judges”

Secondary school people’s choice - Forest Gate Community School, Newham. “It was an unforgettable and unusually unique experience.”

Primary School Winners - Maryland School, Newham. “We found speaking to the dragons in the den challenging but we enjoyed making the design and working with a team”

Primary School People’s Choice and runner up - Dersingham Primary School, Newham. “I enjoyed the questioning by the judges too. It was an all-round great experience”
