May half-term on the Park

May half-term on the Park

Story 26/05/2021

We’re now well into spring and enjoying some longer and sunnier (sometimes) days! If you’re looking for things to do this May half-term, there’s something to keep everyone entertained at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Whether you’re after a peaceful walk or are ready to take on adventure, enjoy a family friendly day out right here in east London.

Come and explore the acres of gardens and parklands at your own pace while you follow one of our amazing free trails – relive the sights and sounds of London 2012 ahead of the Tokyo Games, view the brilliant art installations dotted around, or see for yourself the wildlife who have made their home at the Park. There’s bound to be something that sparks your interest!

There’s plenty of space to relax in the sun after enjoying a peaceful stroll around some of the most beautiful gardens in London, located in the north of the Park. With the flowers in full bloom you’ll be treated to a colourful display by plants from around the world!

Let the kids blow off some steam at one of the Park’s amazing free adventure playgrounds – with equipment for both big and little kids it’s a destination the whole family will enjoy, with plenty of space to explore while maintaining strict social distancing rules to keep everybody safe.

Now the Park’s iconic venues are open beginning to open (with strict Covid-compliant rules), there’s plenty going on this half-term. Lee Valley VeloPark is hosting skills sessions for children of all levels who want to gain more confidence in BMX, track cycling and mountain biking. Or if you’re after the ultimate adventure, head up the ArcelorMittal Orbit to take in the breath-taking panoramic views, or take on the world’s longest tunnel for a thrill-seeking experience nobody will forget. Open every day for the perfect family day out this May half-term!

After all that fun, you’re bound to be hungry, and with some of the best food and drink options in east London you’ll be spoilt for choice. From a quick coffee at The Last Drop to a Signorelli sandwich, or a tasty outdoor brunch at Canalside, there are food and drink options to suit everyone!

The Park is free to enter and open daily – toilet facilities remain open and all facilities have strict Covid-compliant cleaning in place. Whether you plan on popping in for a quick trip or making a full day of it, getting here should be easier than ever with London Overground, Jubilee and Central Lines and a range of other transport options within walking distance of the Park.
