The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder - winter is officially here. But worry not Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is still full of life and action, ready for you to enjoy.
Escape the hustle and bustle and explore the 560 acres of parklands and floral gardens here at the Park or enjoy a peaceful walk along the meandering canals. You could quite easily feel like you’re in the countryside.
Looking for a winter adventure? Why not follow one of our free trails, take in the inspiring art installations dotted around, see the wildlife that has made a home at the Park or relive the sights and sounds of the London 2012 Games. You’re bound to find the perfect route for you.
The Park is home to two free adventure playgrounds, the rustic Tumbling Bay located in the north of the Park with rock pools and sand pits and the Pleasure Gardens located south of the Park which has oversized swings and climbing frames. Both are perfect to let the kids blow off steam and go wild.
You can also make the most out of your day trip to the Park this winter and take in some live action. There are a range of events happening at the Park throughout this season, from the London Lions matches and the Netball Quad Series at the Copper Box Arena, to the West Ham United games at London Stadium. Whatever you choose you’re bound to find an event that you can enjoy with friends or family.
The ArcelorMittal Orbit is open and ready for you to take on the Slide. If riding the world’s longest tunnel slide is not your cup of tea, soak up the scenic London skyline views from the indoor or outdoor viewing platform - perfect for those picturesque winter days. Good news, the ArcelorMittal Orbit is open every day over the Christmas and New Year period (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
Whether you are grabbing a hot drink to warm up or want to sit down for a bite to eat, there are plenty of places in and around the Park for you to choose from. Tessa Jowell Boulevard is home to a range of foodie kiosks serving everything from vegan cuisine to American diner-style meals.
Over in Hackney Wick, Canalside and Hackney Bridge both offer a range of eateries and bars to suit every occasion - family dinners, lunch with the family or nights out with friends! Don’t forget The Last Drop and Timber Lodge Café on the Park itself for drinks and light bites during your days out on the Park.
The Park is free and open daily - whether you plan on popping in for a quick wander or making a full day out of it, getting to the Park is easier than ever with the London Overground, Jubilee and Central Lines as well as a range of other transport options within walking distance of the Park.
Finally, if you’re looking for Christmas present ideas, look no further. Our venues and attractions also make the perfect gift for your friends and family. Whether it’s a ride on the Slide, the gift of health and fitness at one of our health and leisure venues, a whizz around the VeloPark, or a behind the scenes tour of London Stadium, they’ll be spoiled for choice.
