First piece of the Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit lifted in to place

Story 13/04/2016

The Slide was created by German artist Carsten Höller at the invitation of Sir Anish Kapoor, designer of the ArcelorMittal Orbit. This is a unique collaboration between two of the world’s leading artists and a major new art installation for London.

Once completed the Slide will measure 178m and will circle around the tower 12 times making it the world’s tallest and longest tunnel slide. In the 40 second trip sliders are expected to reach speeds of up to 15 miles per hour.

The Slide is due to open in early summer with tickets going on sale in the next few weeks. Tickets will cost £5 on top of the usual admission fee - £12 for adults and £5 for children, on the day.
