Story 06/05/2014
The London Legacy Development Corporation, the organisation responsible for the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, will be in attendance at the Walking on Water exhibition at ExCel London.
The free exhibition is a visual chronicle of the new emerging east London, its villages and neighbourhoods, schools and universities, artist quarters and centres for media, technology and science.
WOW: Walking on Water forms part of Grand Designs Live London. In the same way that Grand Designs often focuses on the imaginative regeneration of individual buildings, the regeneration of east London can be thought of as a Grand Design - on a larger scale.
East London is changing. The London 2012 Games has acted as a catalyst. If you ‘join the dots’ a new city is emerging bringing together innovators, artists, business and local communities and galvanizing action.
Walking on Water reflects this new Water City through an interactive exhibition in The Boulevard at ExCeL London offering visitors a walking tour through east London, from Trinity Buoy Wharf to the Royal Docks, to Three Mills, Stratford and the Lower Lea Valley. Meet innovators transforming the city and experience an integrated display of art, photography and exhibition stands featuring high-quality regeneration initiatives.
London Legacy Development Corporation, in partnership with Grand Designs and Water City CIC, will shortly be announcing a design competition to find the next generation of emerging student creative minds to contribute to how we shape one of our flagship regeneration projects in Hackney. Further details will be announced shortly.
The Legacy Corporation will also be highlighting the new facilities now available to local communities and visitors alike on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as well as future developments around new homes and jobs.
WOW: Walking on Water takes place from 3–11 May 2014 in the main Boulevard at London Excel. It is completely FREE.
