Join the new Community Review Panel for London Legacy Development Corporation

Press Release 31/08/2022

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is recruiting local people for a new Community Review Panel (CRP), so they can give their views and  comment on plans for future development.

In the coming years, there will be significant change across the LLDC area, continuing the regeneration of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and its surrounding neighbourhoods within the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.

The Community Review Panel will play an independent, advisory role in LLDC’s planning work, considering how new development in particular meets the needs of people living, working, visiting and studying in the area, now and in the future. Panel feedback will also be sought on draft planning guidance, in addition to any formal community consultation that would usually take place.

The panel will meet about once a month to discuss development proposals and give its views. These discussions will be turned into a formal report and will feed into decisions made by LLDC. The panel’s comments will be taken into consideration as a formal part of the planning decision making process.

The Community Review Panel will have around 18 members, and LLDC is looking for people of all backgrounds and ages (18 or over). Panel members will know and have a passion for their local area, and will want to positively influence its future – whether a resident, student, employer, employee or visitor. LLDC wants to hear from people who may not already be involved with a community group, and who feel that their voice is not currently being heard. You do not need to know about planning or architecture. Please note that elected members and local authority employees are not eligible to apply.

Anthony Hollingsworth, Director of Planning Policy and Decisions, at London Legacy Development Corporation, said:

“We want to listen and understand the views of people living, working and studying in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and to give local people an independent role in shaping and advising on new development.  The Community Review Panel will have a really vital role to play in maximising local opportunities and improving the quality of schemes which are proposed to change our existing and emerging neighbourhoods.”

Panel members will:

  • bring a strong understanding of the local area, the way it works, its history, its inhabitants, and local needs
  • be able to reflect the needs of existing residents and businesses, in providing positive and constructive advice from a community perspective on proposals for development and change, and feedback on emerging policy and guidance
  • make confident contributions in meetings
  • collaborate and respect the contribution of others in panel discussions.

The deadline for applications is September 19, 2022. For more information visit Community Review Panel | Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
