About Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
• Why the long name?
A lot of thought went into naming this Park. It is to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee year, along with the memory of the 2012 Games.
• How big is the Park?
At 226 acres, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is almost the same size as Hyde Park in central London.
• Is the Park free?
Yes. From summer 2013, an area in the north of the Park will be open. Once the Park is fully open in spring 2014, there will be lots of open spaces to roam and explore as you please. Some of the events will carry an entrance fee.
• How do I get on to the Park?
You can get to the Park from Stratford, Hackney and Leyton. View our getting here page for more information.
• How high is the ArcelorMittal Orbit?
At its highest point, the ArcelorMittal Orbit is 114.5m high. The highest viewing platform is 80m high.
• What plants are in the Park and can I buy the seedlings?
You can read about all plants and wildlife in the Park and the best time to see them by visiting the 2012 Garden's website.
•What are the opening times for the public park?
The Park opens from 6am to 10pm in summer and 6am to 7pm in winter. Remember to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to leave the Park safely before closing time.
Food and drink in the Park
• Are there places in the Park to buy food and drink?
There is the Unity Kitchen Café at the Timber Lodge, near the children’s adventure playground in the north of the Park. The Copper Box Arena will also have a café where you can quench your thirst after a workout, or you can enjoy the many restaurants and food outlets in the local area, at Westfield shopping centre or the Moka Café at View Tube, at the south end of the Park.
• Can I bring food and drink into the Park?
Feel free to bring a picnic or any snacks and drinks you want, but please leave any glass at home.
For ticketed events restrictions on what food and drink you can take into the Park may apply. Check event details and check with event organisers for more information.
• How do I get to the Park?

• How far is the Park from the station?
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is served by several stations, all within easy walk. View the Park map to find the station nearest to where you want to go.
• Can I drive to the Park?
There will be no public car parking at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park but the public transport links are excellent. To make the most of your day, please make sure you plan your travel in advance and know how you intend to get home afterwards. Each venue has provision for Blue Badge holders.
• Will public transport still be running after evening events in the Park?
You’ll need to check timetables when planning your visit to the Park. After an event, allow up to half an hour to get from the venue to the stations.
Transport operators will run some additional services, but it is important that you plan ahead. If you’re travelling home or to a destination outside London, don’t forget to check the time your last train leaves London.
If you’re visiting the Park on a Sunday, please be aware that public transport services often stop running early. You can plan your journey on the TFL website.
